We speculated that random allocation to an unwanted meal pattern may have contributed to dropping out. Results indicate that there were no significant differences (p > 0.05) for a dropout’s baseline meal pattern between each of the three meal patterns, and for each gender. Interviews and qualitative data provided only 1 case where the meal pattern allocation had been the deciding factor to drop out. The remainder cited work, time constraints and family commitments as the primary reason. We conclude that a profile to reliably predict those who will quit a weight loss study could not be developed, and that we need to develop tools to evaluate lifestyle predictors more effectively.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:28:57 AEDT ]]> Weight stabilisation is associated with improved survival duration and quality of life in unresectable pancreatic cancer https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:1481 1 kg lost) or weight stable (≤1 kg lost) after an 8 week nutrition intervention period. Group survival duration (Kaplan Meier) and QoL (EORTC QLQ-C30) were compared. Predictors of weight stability were determined using logistic regression analysis. Results: Patients with weight stabilisation survived longer from baseline (log rank test 5.53, P=0.019). They also reported higher QoL scores (P=0.037) and a greater mean energy intake (P<0.001) at Week 8 than those who continued to lose weight. The absence of nausea and vomiting (OR 6.5, P=0.010) and female gender (OR 5.2, P=0.020) were independent determinants of weight stabilisation. Conclusions: Weight stabilisation over an 8 week period in weight-losing patients with unresectable pancreatic cancer was associated with improved survival duration and QoL.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:28:12 AEDT ]]> Nutrition intervention improves outcomes in patients with cancer cachexia receiving chemotherapy: a pilot study https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:1738 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:27:26 AEDT ]]> Nutrition advice in general practice: the role of general practitioners and practice nurses https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:15641 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:23:44 AEDT ]]> Examination of the utility of the Promoting Action on Research Implementation in Health Services framework for implementation of evidence based practice in residential aged care settings https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12756 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:18:24 AEDT ]]> Minimising undernutrition in the older inpatient https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12862 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:14:48 AEDT ]]> Private practice in rural areas: an untapped opportunity for dietitians https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12267 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:10:07 AEDT ]]> Going rural but not staying long: recruitment and retention issues for the rural dietetic workforce in Australia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:10908 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:07:41 AEDT ]]> Increasing dietetic referrals: perceptions of general practitioners, practice nurses and dietitians https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20881 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:57:58 AEDT ]]> To snack or not to snack: what should we advise for weight management? https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:17951 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:56:28 AEDT ]]> The acute patient satisfaction questionnaire: The development of a valid and reliable tool to measure patient satisfaction with acute care hosptial foodservices https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:127 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:43:11 AEDT ]]> Estimation of total body water from foot-to-foot bioelectrical impedance analysis in patients with cancer cachexia - agreement between three prediction methods and deuterium oxide dilution https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20 7.4 L) for each of the prediction equations compared with measured TBW.
